About Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini yoga is an ancient art and science for transforming and expanding consciousness. Traditionally, the techniques were communicated only from Master to disciple and through a long initiation process. In the late 1960s, Harbhajan Singh Kahlsa Yogiji, known affectionately as Yogi Bhajan, moved from India to the United States and began teaching kundalini yoga openly to the public.

Kundalini yoga is especially beneficial to householders—people who cope with daily challenges and stress of holding jobs, raising families and managing businesses. It works through the practice of specific exercises and meditations that invite us to consciously and precisely combine breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks and/or postures. Through practice, even for a very short period of time, major improvements in physical health and mental clarity are possible.

Upcoming Kundalini Series:

Kundalini Yoga for Balancing the Chakras

Imagine a set of whirlpools, more or less aligned with one another. Each swirling in a circular motion that pulls energy toward its center while sustaining a momentum that flows into adjacent whirlpools. Within our physical bodies, seven primary whirlpools of energy known as chakras are located along the length of the spine and in the head.

Each chakra generates a dynamic energy that affects specific feelings and perceptions, types of thoughts, and ways we act upon those thoughts, feelings and perceptions. When the dynamic energy of each chakra flows freely, in balance with the energies of other chakras, we experience increased vitality, compassion, and happiness. When the flow of energy from one chakra or another is blocked or disrupted, there is increased potential for dis-ease in the physical body, a depletion of emotional well-being, or a weakened spiritual sensibility.

The Chakras, part 1
May 3rd, 10th, and 24th

In this four-class series, we’ll practice kundalini kriyas (sequences of exercises) and meditation that bring specific chakras into balance and flow. We’ll start at the root of the spine, with the first chakra, and then focus on the second, third and fourth chakras in subsequent classes. The first three chakras are known as the lower triangle, generating energies that give us a sense of security, an ability to create, and the power of inner balance. The fourth chakra is at the heart center. When in balance, it sustains a potent self-love that heightens our compassion toward others.

The Chakras, continued
May 31st, June 14th, and 21st

The classes in this series focus on the fifth, sixth and seventh chakras, known as the upper triangle. When balanced and swirling freely, they give us the ability to communicate effectively, to clarify our sense of purpose in life, and to connect to our higher selves. The final class will focus on the aura, an electromagnetic field that surrounds the body and is known as the eighth chakra in kundalini yoga. It combines the effects of all the chakras.

About me—Peggy Lindauer

I discovered kundalini yoga about 18 years ago while living in Arizona. Over time, as my commitment to practice deepened, I’ve experienced profound mental, emotional and spiritual changes: I’m so much better able to keep a neutral mind amidst life’s challenges and good fortunes. No more emotional rollercoaster rides; no more looking outside myself for validation; no more worrying about the what the future might bring. After many years of hearing countless people suggest, “you should do teacher training,” I completed my Level 1 Teacher Training in 2014 with master teacher Darshan Kaur, and I’m certified to teach by the Kundalini Research Institute. Ever thirsty for more, I’ve embarked upon Level 2 training and have completed four of five level-2 modules at the Hacienda Guru Ram Das Ashram in Espanola, New Mexico.
